Meet the 2021 Art of Science Judges: Dorotha Grace Lemeh
An Artist’s Passion
Professional artist, Dorotha Grace Lemeh, MFA, returns as juror in the 2021 Art of Science photography contest.
Lemeh, an associate professor of visual arts in the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, shares her passion for this contest, which offers FAU researchers, faculty and students the opportunity to use photography to present their work creatively.
“As an academic, who is passionate about interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning, I work in concert with my colleagues in science and the humanities to promote cross-disciplinary learning,” Lemeh said. “I continue to exhibit and currently have participated in more than 80 exhibitions both nationally and internationally, receiving award recognition of all kinds.”
Lemeh’s artwork can be seen in various museums around the nation including the U.S. Department of State Arts in Embassies and in other countries such as Nigeria, Ireland, Bulgaria and Italy.
“I am both a visual artist and educator. I constantly utilize the arts in my instructional practice since I consider them to be a rather strong vehicle for educational learning, “she said. “And, like the great Leonardo da Vinci once said, ‘you should not only study the science of art but study the art of science.’”
