Cast Your Votes for the Best Images Captured by FAU Researchers

Have you ever wondered what cholesterol imbalance actually looks like inside a brain? That’s exactly what Maciej Stawikowski, Ph.D., research professor, Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, showcases in his first-place winning submission in the 2021 Art of Science photography contest.

But, the next pick is yours – the People’s Choice award voting is open through Dec. 10. The public is invited to vote once per day for their favorite.

Created to engage and educate the public in the cutting-edge research, scholarship and creative activity happening throughout the university, the contest this year also included submissions from students and researchers in the lab and in the field across all disciplines at FAU.

“I’m thrilled that our work and photograph were chosen out of the variety of talented images in this contest,” said Stawikowski, whose research looks at how cholesterol imbalance may hold the key to understanding Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases.

More than a dozen judges from FAU’s 10 colleges chose Stawikowski image, as well as the other winners.
