Art of Science Judge: Rupert Rhodd
Seeing the Artistic Beauty in Research
Meet Rupert Rhodd, Ph.D., judge for the sixth annual Division of Research Art of Science photography contest – who said he sees the contest as an opportunity for the world to take a moment and step back.
"The Art of Science contest brings together photography, video and science in a manner that is truly beautiful and amazing. The still images and videos cause one to pause and think about the beauty of nature,” Rhodd said.
Rhodd currently serves as the associate dean of the College of Business. In addition, he leads students on one-of-a-kind experiences by coordinating abroad courses to Costa Rica, Jamaica, Argentina, Paraguay and Panama as part of the international economics field experience course in the College of Business. An experience that Rhodd said he believes influences students in and out of the classroom, especially as it pertains to capturing what they see on film.
“I am amazed by the creativity, innovation, and the unique perspective that the contestants capture in their entries, and I look forward to being a member of the panel of judges each year,” Rhod said.
Outside of FAU, Rhodd is active in his community, serving as co-chair for the Coalition of Jamaican Alumni Associations of Florida an organization of 55 Jamaican alumni associations. In addition, he is a member of the City of Parkland Advisory Board and was previously a member of the Community Relations Board for the North Broward Hospital.
